The skin is like a blackboard. The problems on the skin are messages being written there by the internal organs and their workings, often showing what is going wrong inside the body.

Anyone who has had a bull terrier with a bad skin will know only too well some of the endless “kinds” of this bad skin which at times includes ears; eyes; feet; legs; anal glands; fur; hormones; bladder; digestive upsets such as smelly wind; colic; sticky slushy poo often bloody or covered in mucus etc. etc.  

The skin lesions can be red; itchy; spotty; sweaty; sticky; smelly muck of various colours; dry; dusty; scaly; leathery; with loss of fur; thin; patchy; dull; discoloured; lifeless and moulting in excess.  

If damage to skin is from cuts; bruises; operations, then trauma of that kind will hopefully heal soon. If damage to skin is from fleas; mites; ticks; grass and flower pollens; washing powder; softeners; soap; carpet cleaners etc. It can also be a reaction to a vaccine /  drug / chemical wash etc. whatever it is, then there is proof of a reduced working immune system otherwise those things would not be too much of a problem and they would eventually heal on their own or with just a little help. Do not forget that our breed are already born with a reduced working immune-system.

If your dog; bitch; puppies then go on and have further chemical vaccines; drugs; washes; drops for the skin etc. their immune system will further be damaged. It does state - quite clearly - on the manufacturer’s information sheet (the literature supplied with the vaccine):

“ONLY HEALTHY DOGS SHOULD BE VACCINATED.”

The information supplied also says that if you do vaccinate and your dog / bitch is in poor health / nutrition / breeding / on drugs / under stress then they cannot guarantee that the dog being vaccinated is covered!!

• Why not try a more natural nutritional diet full of fresh foodstuffs? Avoid all chemically mass-produced tinned/dried dog food and meat (red and white) and tripe and allow the body time to heal from within, then the outside.

• Why not filter their water instead of their kidneys filtering whatever is in the water that is added for purification?

• Why not try a more natural approach in the form of homeopathy / Bach Flower Remedies / New Era tissue salts all sold in health food stores with booklets for information?

• Why not look more into the breeding side of your dog / bitch and the time of year they are mated and puppies born? Winter is hardly the ideal time to have puppies growing!
